This year’s walking and driving tour will take place in the historic city of Hopewell. Situated along the south bank of the Appomattox River, the Mansion Hills subdivision occupies the site of the former Bolling House estate. Tour participants will have the opportunity to visit three homes within walking distance of one another, each reflecting the unique tastes and decorating styles of its owners. The properties are complemented by beautifully maintained lawns and gardens, including one featuring a tranquil koi pond and waterfall. A short drive from Mansion Hills is Weston Manor, an 18th-century residence overlooking the Appomattox River. Recognized as a distinguished example of Virginia Georgian architecture, Weston Manor is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The tour also includes three additional historic landmarks: the Beacon Theatre, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Appomattox Manor, offering visitors a rich and varied glimpse into the area’s architectural and cultural heritage.
