A short shuttle ride will bring visitors to the bucolic and historic neighborhood of Chatham Hills in Henrico, adjacent to Richmond’s city line. Originally a riverfront Antebellum Farm built in the early 1800s, it was transformed into a charming residential enclave by the renowned landscape architect Charles Freeman Gillette in 1916, who worked on the entire subdivision. Chatham Hills’ homes reflect Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial, French Country, Cape and Contemporary styles. This walking tour includes the original farmhouse that has been exquisitely updated, two additional homes with gardens, and two enchanting gardens along the Bridgeway loop and the Kanawha Canal.
