Questions?
This tour showcases the South Gaskins neighborhood of Richmond, featured on Historic Garden Week for the first time. In the 1800s, the Randolph family, who lived at nearby Historic Tuckahoe, the childhood home of Thomas Jefferson, owned the land. In 1925, the Country Club of Virginia acquired 540 acres along the James River and developed two 18-hole golf courses, adding to the area’s appeal. Despite this development, the neighborhood remained predominantly rural until the 1960s when the first homes began appearing in cul-de-sacs off of South Gaskins Road. Today, the area is known for its custom-built homes, spacious lots, mature trees and gardens, abundant wildlife, and stunning views of the James River valley.
